Delicious Harissa Beef

I’ve been brave in the kitchen again!
Today I bring you a SUPER easy ground beef dish that is also pretty versatile. I worked 10 hours, had only ground beef thawed, and literally just threw this together in 15 minutes.

If you haven’t heard of harissa, it is a North African spice paste made of chilies, garlic, and spices preserved in olive oil. It’s heavenly and adds a wonderful flavorful kick of spice to any dish! You can find it with the likes of soy sauce and pasta sauces.

Delicious Harissa Beef
Serves about 4 – Takes 15 minutes

1 Pound ground meat of choice
1/2 to full chopped onion
14oz tomato sauce
8 oz tomato paste (optional for a thicker dish)
2 tablespoons of olive oil (There is an AMAZING harissa olive oil sold here!)
2 tablespoons of smoked tomato spice (You can find it here, page 30)
OR just use something smoked. Liquid smoke, smoked olive oil, something to add more of that smokey flavor.

2 Tablespoons Harissa paste (adjust to your spice tolerance)
1-2 Tablespoons turmeric (For added anti-inflammatory boost!)

Now for the brief instructions~

  • Brown meat, remove and drain.
  • Oil the pan, cook onions until soft.
  • Add in everything else and bring to a simmer.
  • Toss in a bowl, toss on top of spaghetti, in a bun, or throw some fried eggs on top! It’s absolutely delicious either way.
