What did you do as a child to have fun? To be creative? What made you feel free?
Do we practice this now? Or are we stuck in a lull with lack of freedom and creativity?
Recently I’ve begun to take note or my creative process, and how much of my day is spent doing something that needs to be productive. I am all too focused on the results or the next topic to explore, and that leads me to, well, a lot of unfinished projects! I am stuck in this mentality of “do as much as you can, as fast as you can” and this does NOTHING but support my lack of creativity and focus. I may be committed to learning, but this doesn’t mean I’m committed to learning about one thing at a time. This isn’t how I used to be. The only thing I can commit to these days is my relationship with Nolan. What changed?
And then, I had this amazing thought reveal itself to me the other day…the creative activities and down-time antics of a young Sophie, were no longer present. The creative part of my inner child has been shut down, and I can’t seem to slow down juuuuust enough to reconnect with her.
However, inside, she waits.
Ready to lose herself in a good book while sitting under the sun.
Ready to take a walk to the park and just swing to swing.
Ready to roll out the paper and markers and just create something beautiful!
Ready to eat an ice cream cone with NO hesitation and no concern for my diet.
Ready to take a bike ride, and just ride for as long as she can. Soaking in the scenery, letting her hair fly free, no concern for time or technology. Because she needs this.
I need this.
We all need out inner-child. Their freedom is what fuels creativity, and joy, and letting go! Our inner child knows how to feel present and completely saturated and enveloped in each and every lovely moment. They remember what feels good and life and they just DO IT.
What positive memories come up when you think of childhood? What did you like to create? What did you do for “play” or relaxation?
Stay tuned for more on crystals for creativity and letting you inner child shine through, as well as guided meditations!
